(More customer reviews)I bought this as a gift for my nine year old daughter.It has been a great purchase.After showing my daughter how to operate the different functions, she has been an independent user.This alarm clock allows my daughter to listen to music on the radio or CD player.She can choose to wake up to music,radio, or buzzer.The size is a plus; it has replaced her oversized radio/multi CD player,which was too bulky and had too many functions.The large #s are easy to read and can be dimmed w/dimmer button.The blue # color is a winner;it is different from the usual red or orange and is her favorite color.The sound quality is great for the product.

Compatible with CDs, CD-Rs, and CD-RWs, the JL-CD811 plays both prerecorded and custom-burned albums, so you can build song compilations on your computer and listen to them through the radio's side speakers. As an alternative, you can turn to the digital AM/FM tuner to enjoy such standbys as NPR, talk radio news, and drive-time morning hosts, or simply set the alarm to sound an old-school buzzer each morning. And thanks to such CD playback options as repeat (one and all tracks) and random play, the device excels in non-alarm locations as well, such as in kitchens or garages. All this in a stylish, modern housing that takes up a minimum of space (the device measures 8.66 by 3.31 by 7.86 inches).

(More customer reviews)Perhaps that's a bit hyperbolic, but the reality is, for the price, this alarm clock is phenomenal. Certainly the best one I've ever owned. The thought that went into the design is just great. A single switch makes Daylight Savings Time adjustments a snap. The Nap button is awesome. The automatic dimming when you turn out the lights is so nice. Throw in an external input jack and dual alarms, and it's impossible to beat, but on top of that, the Buzzer setting on the alarm has got to be the most pleasant buzzer I've heard. It starts of soft to gently wake you and then gradually builds, making sure you wake up, but giving you the chance to rouse gently first. It's seldom that I get passionate about a product, but really, if you want an economical clock that is a joy to use, it's impossible to go wrong with this one.

(More customer reviews)Trying to find a reliable, easy to use, inexpensive, alarm clock for the wife.She wanted one that sets itself and had a battery back-up. I wanted one that would wake her up.Found this one at K-mart and spent 30 mins playing with it over by the televisions (needed a power source). This radio alarm clock is perfect for what I need.This being my first review, I"ll just point out the things that made me buy it.
1. Nice soft blue color, 2 setting...low you can just make out and high is clearly visible
2. Battery back up (even came with batteries) easy to find AA"s
3. Plug in in and it sets itself (all you have to do is set the time zone) has a switch for Daylight Savings Time.
4. Dual alarm (his and her) or in this case days and midnights...set it and forget it. You don't have to rememberto set it everyday.
5. If the power goes out the alarm goes into kind of a sleep mode.It beeps to warn you of the power failure and according to the instructions, remembers the alarm settings and goes off without it being plugged in (not tested yet)
6. The alarm starts off kinda like any other alarm but then gets progressively louder (can't see anyone sleeping through this one)
7. Playing with the tuner, looks like one of those old fashion, spin the dial things, but it shows a digital read on the display (kinda cool but it's a cheap radio folks and sounds like one)
8. The snooze is adjustable from 1 to 30 mins.
9. Last but not least, the alarm set time is displayed on the lower right, so if your the nervous type, you can double check to make sure the alarm is where you want it to be.All for around 20 bucks...and that"s all I have to say about that.....
